The norm

Merriam-Webster defines "the norm" as the usual or typical situation that serves as a guiding principle for proper behavior within a group.

Are you willing to challenge the norm?

In my society, it is common for individuals to follow a predetermined path set by societal expectations. For example, the typical life timeline often involves going to school, pursuing a Bachelor's Degree, finding a job, getting married, having children, and eventually passing away.

However, my friends, there is nothing stopping you from veering off the beaten path and deviating from the expected direction. You have the power to make your own choices because you know yourself better than anyone else. While others may offer guidance, the final decision rests with you, as you will be the one to face the consequences, whether positive or negative.

I once had an encounter with a middle-aged Indian lady who was a complete stranger. She said something that resonated with me:

"If you ever thinking to further your study, just go for it. You may worry about marriage life, finances, etc. but don't worry other things will come along the way. You won't regret it later. Just go!"

Thank you, Auntie.
